I really LOVE this time of year, but the thing about it is, it was designed to make me fat. Everywhere I go I find cookies, and pie, and rolls, and mashed potatoes, and pumpkin-flavored treats, and I am saddled with the guilt of having eaten them all because I lack self control.
NOT THIS YEAR.
This fall I have already come too far in my fitness journey to let my favorite season of eating undo all my hard work. In October, I had the 30 Day Home Cooked Challenge to encourage me to stick with the program and make dinner every night as I competed in the 2-month challenge at Kosama. This month, Kosama will be kicking off a holiday weight-maintenance challenge with a $10 buy-in, and with a minimum of 50 participants that means a $250 50/50 pot is at stake! I want to be a finalist (you have to lose, maintain, or lose body fat between the weigh in next week and January to be entered to win the pot), so I need to set myself up for success once again. How am I going to accomplish that feat? The Too Much Turkey Countdown Challenge!
There are 24 days between now and Thanksgiving, so I am going to challenge myself to another home-cooked challenge so that on Thanksgiving day, I can pile my plate as high as I want to with turkey (including dark meat!), mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, rolls, cranberry sauce, and whatever else I can get my grubby (but skinnier) hands on!
So how about you? Are you game for the challenge? Here’s how to participate:
- At least ONE meal each day between now and the day before Thanksgiving needs to be healthy and home-cooked. You can make a recipe, throw together a sandwich or a quick salad, whatever, as long as you made it and it didn’t come from a restaurant or a drive-thru.
- Snap a photo of your healthy meals each day and tweet them at me @thisfitgirljess, using the hashtag, #TMTChallenge
- If I can get at least FIVE people to participate, I’ll do some kind of healthy giveaway!
I’ll be sure to post mine every day, and if there’s a recipe to share, I’ll include that too. Need inspiration? Click on “Recipes” above for links to my favorite recipes which features a mix of my own creations and my favorites from across the interwebs.
C’mon -what’s 24 days of home-cooked meals, just so you can pig out on Thanksgiving, guilt free?
