A Bear, or a Badass?

Fact: When black bears hibernate, “fat tissues break down and supply water and up to 4,000 calories a day; muscle and organ tissues break down and supply protein”.

Fact: I am not a bear. I do not need to put on a healthy layer of fat to get me through anything. Hibernating will not burn the fat tissues I do have.

After taking far to many days off from the gym I ventured back into the depths of aching muscles and exhaustion this week. I’m three days in. Aside from being tired, a little less fit than I was a few weeks back, I feel pretty damn good. I’m even making an effort to eat healthier – I planned this week’s lunches and dinners and haven’t eaten out so far this week. Part of that eating healthy has been working to decimate a giant bag of baby kale… so I leave you with this:

Ridiculously Easy Sautéed Baby Kale

Ingredients

  • 2 garlic cloves – pressed
  • 3-4 cups baby kale (it’s not as much as it sounds like!)
  • olive oil spray or 2tsp olive oil (to keep it from sticking)
  • Italian seasoning to taste

Prep

  • toss garlic and olive oil in pan and sautée for 1-2 minutes
  • toss in baby kale and turn with tongs until soft, mixing in seasoning part way.

Then eat it! Easy-Peasy!
